KP461 – Developmental Motor Learning for Physical Education – 0.5 Credit

This course integrates motor development principles and motor-learning principles to the application of physical education and introduces students to the methods of teaching primary and elementary physical education using a student-focused, developmentally appropriate approach. Students will learn how to use developmental games, dance and gymnastics to teach fundamental movement skills and concepts that center on an individual-specific basis according to motor, cognitive and affective development. There is a Community Service Learning component to this course, where all students will be required to perform 20 hours of volunteer work in a local school, over the course of the term.
