KP423 – Human Cardio-Respiratory Response to Exercise – 0.5 Credit

This course provides in-depth coverage of the cardio-respiratory aspects of exercise physiology. Topics include central and peripheral regulation of the cardiovascular system during exercise, neural control of respiration, reflexes controlling airway, and lung and respiratory muscle function during exercise. The effects of whole body exercise training on the cardio-respiratory system including the effects of aging, and gender differences on cardio-respiratory responses to exercise will be discussed. Current theories, developments and controversies will be examined. Prerequisites KP220, KP322.
