KP220 – Human Biology – Physiology – 0.5 Credit

This course begins with an introduction to the fundamental principles of physiology, including: membrane transport, energy metabolism, cellular communication and homeostasis. In the latter half of the course, these fundamentals will be applied to study the human physiological systems which relate to the study of kinesiology. Emphasis will be on the nervous, muscular, cardiovascular, respiratory and renal systems. The laboratory component of this course is designed to illustrate the theoretical and practical concepts using computer simulations and human physiological recordings. Prerequisites BI210/HE210 or KP223 (or permission of the department). Exclusions BI216/HE211, BI217, BI220, BI221, BI222, HS202, HS204, KP221 and KP222. Notes 3 lecture hours, 2 lab hours
