GS311 – Neoliberalism and its Critics – 0.5 Credit

This course examines neoliberalism as a development strategy. It attempts to shed light on the origins, nature, specifics and reactions to the market-driven reforms that dominated the development agenda of the 1980s and 1990s. Specific country-cases of these reforms and their general implications receive special attention. The case studies are drawn from Africa, Latin America and Asia. Prerequisites 1.0 credit in 200 level GS courses, or permission of the instructor. Exclusions GS340d.
