This literature is rich in political and social thought, satire, philosophy and sentiment, as well as rebelliousness, comedy and mockery. Selections of works may include genres such as Restoration plays, mock heroic poems, biography, autobiography, essays, diaries, letters and travel writing, set in the context of various cultural and intellectual developments.
