BI476 – Microbial Disease – 0.5 Credit – Winter

Microbial disease will be examined from a physiological and molecular perspective. Factors involved in overcoming host defense, virulence and pathogenesis will be studied. Emphasis will be placed on the physiological mechanisms and genetic regulation involved as well as host resistance and response. Historical and emerging microbiologically-mediated diseases of the human body will be covered. Prerequisites BI374 (formerly BI274) or permission of department. Notes 2 lecture hours, 4 lab hours per week
