BI266 – Life on Earth: Plants – 0.5 Credit

The course integrates three core themes in botany: 1) the role of plants in the development of the human civilization; 2) the diversity of form, structure, and function in relationship with the environment, and 3) the biodiversity, evolution, and conservation of vascular plants. Because botany studies plants at all the levels of organization, from molecules to ecosystems, its findings are used in a multitude of applied fields: agriculture, forestry, medicine, pharmacology, nutrition, biotechnology, conservation and environmental studies. Prerequisites BI111 (or BI100*). Exclusions BI263, BI264, BI267. Notes 3 lecture hours, 3 lab/tutorial/seminar hours
