Through close reading of major ethnographic classics this course explores the historical connections between the rise of anthropological fieldwork and the creation of ethnography as a genre. It also examines the interrelation of ethnography, theory, and the critique of ethnographic practice. Prerequisites AN200 and AN202. Notes 3 lecture hours
