A study of religious quests and their connection to conquest or other forms of cultural expansionism and religious imperialism. Among the prominent themes of the course are: intercultural respect and disrespect; appropriation and repatriation; cross-cultural learning and conflict; anthropological fraud; pilgrimage; ethnic performance; religious tourism; religious syncretism; missionization; interfaith borrowing and theft.
