PC236 – Fundamentals of Photonics – 0.5 Credit

Introduction to photonics, the science and technology of generating and controlling light (photons). Topics include an overview of optics, light wave fundamentals, lasers, and applications of photonics in science and engineering, such as bioimaging and optical fiber communication. Prerequisites Registration status: senior student, or permission of the department. Exclusions PC135; honours Photonics students in Year 3 or Year 4.
