This course focuses on the domestic origins and impact of revolutions in Mexican history, from the War of Independence to the Revolution of 1910. Topics will include Mexican rebels and national heroes, social conditions, the role of ideology and revolutionary nationalism, and Mexico as a nation-state. The course will also explore the legacies of the Mexican revolution in Latin America.
