An introduction to the culture of several influential civilizations of ancient Southwest Asia with emphasis on institutions, world view, and religious traditions from prehistory through ca. 1500 BCE. The course will focus primarily on Persia, Mesopotamia, and Egypt, but cultures from the Levant and Anatolia may be treated as well. Exclusions NE101.
