An introduction to diatonic harmony, simple modulation, voice-leading, functional and sequential progressions, the harmonic structure of the phrase and basic components of form (motive, idea, phrase, period, sentence, hybrids). The course involves part-writing, analysis and dictation. Prerequisites MU161 and MU116 or equivalent.
