HP202 – Science in the Modern World, From 1800 to the Present – 0.5 Credit

An introduction to central topics in the history and philosophy of science from the era of post-Enlightenment Romanticism to the modern era of nuclear energy and the World Wide Web, including discussion of changing social attitudes to science; science in relation to technology and industrialization; relations between science, politics and war; the emergence of “Big Science”; and social policy in relation to scientific and technological innovation.† Prerequisites Registration status: senior student.
