This introduction to world history will emphasize the economic and cultural interconnections in global history as well as exploring conceptions of world history in Western and non‐Western cultures. The course will study the world order prior to the modern period of Western dominance, and pay particular attention to long‐term historical changes prior to the European cultural and economic ascendancy which created, sustained and transformed the relationships between cultures and peoples of the world.
