This course will examine the ways in which factors such as region, institutions and individuals influenced the course of Canadian history during the colonial period which includes early Native-Newcomer contact, New France, and British North America. Through a topical approach, it will expose students to some of the key themes in the history of Canada and to the ways in which historians construct arguments, use evidence, and interpret and represent the past.
