This course examines the challenges and opportunities faced by post-war societies in our time. Special attention will be given to the effects and nature of war, reconstruction and peacebuilding efforts. The means by which societies recover from social devastation as well as the role of international and humanitarian aid and agencies. Prerequisites 1.0 credit in 200 level GS courses, or permission of the instructor. Exclusions GS340b and PO327.
