An analysis of key perspectives in communication theory with a focus on central concepts. Concepts may include: communication, representation, ideology, hegemony, culture industries, the public sphere, self and other, power, discourse, social difference, globalization and the network society. Primary source readings will be used. Prerequisites CS100 and CS101 (with a grade point of at least 5.0 in each of CS100, CS101). Notes 3 lecture hours
