BU419 – Property and Liability Insurance Management – 0.5 Credit

This course examines the structure of insurance markets and the management of insurance companies with an emphasis on property and liability insurers. The key operational functions of an insurer are discussed. Emphasis will be given to applications of economic and financial concepts to the solution of problems faced by insurers. The course will also examine the regulatory and legal framework in Canada and the effect of this structure on insurer operations. Prerequisites BU353 (may be taken as a co‐requisite) or ACTSC 363 (UW) or permission of the instructor. Exclusions BU493q.
