The course begins with an overview of central approaches to comparative politics which is followed by an examination of the modern state formation, citizenship rights and identity claims. The central part of the course is on the content of political systems through the lenses of institutional and actor-centric perspectives. The final section opens the question of the role of the state in the context of globalization. Students will be introduced to a wide array of important theoretical approaches and various political systems around the world. Prerequisites Registration status: senior student.
