FR238 – Francophone Culture – 0.5 Credit

This course analyses the emergence of diverse francophone cultures in the contemporary world. The main focus is on North African, the sub-Saharan and the Caribbean cross-cultural encounters and creolizations, colonialism, postcolonialism, neocolonialism, diglossia, relations between the Western and indigenous traditions, issues of language and national identity, official language policy and unofficial innovation. Prerequisites FR230 or permission of the department.
